As Canadian society experiences a significant demographic shift, and new perspectives on aging become more important than ever before, earn your MA, MSc or PhD along with a specialization in Aging Studies.
As a humanities, sciences, or social sciences graduate student, explore the significance of aging for individuals, communities and societies through course work and research.
At Trent, an international leader in interdisciplinary aging studies, you’ll earn a degree and a specialization in as little as one year. Choose from a major research project or a thesis in the field of aging studies, and complete a half-credit core course on the foundations in interdisciplinary aging studies.
With more than 15 faculty members undertaking research on aging studies, you’ll be at the forefront of this bourgeoning field of scholarship. Contribute to meaningful dialogue on aging and take part in collaborative excellence as you debunk the myths about aging, old age and older populations.

Requirements
Graduate students who have been accepted into any Trent Master's or PhD graduate program may apply for a Collaborative Specialization in Aging Studies subject to the approval of the CSAS program coordinator. The requirements of the collaborative specialization are:
- successful completion CSAS 5000H: Foundations in Interdisciplinary Aging Studies (a 0.5 credit core course offered by the Trent Centre for Aging & Society) and
- a thesis, major research paper, or research creation project on aging studies subject matter.
Upon successful completion of the degree requirements of their home graduate programs and the requirements of the collaborative specialization, students receive the notation “with Specialization in Aging Studies” on their transcript and parchment.
