Arzu Yildiz graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University TV Journalism Department. She launched her career as a journalist working for TV channels. She worked for Taraf daily as a court reporter for several years (2011-2015). Then she moved to join several news web portals, working both as editor and senior reporter. Turkish journalist Fatih Yağmur and her authored a book investigating Turkey's one of the most politically explosive corruption scandals which broke out on Dec. 17, 2013, and implicated then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's cabinet ministers and close associates. Among her highly acclaimed and regarded reports, she wrote critical pieces of investigative journalism about unresolved murder cases in the Southeast against Kurdish businessmen, illegal weapons supply to Syria, a sweeping corruption scandal that engulfed the government and Mr. Erdogan's family, clandestine crime organizations and many other politically charged subjects. Her reports drew ire from the government circles, prompting authorities to pursue legal cases against her. She faced multiple investigations and legal charges of publishing classified state information, unveiling state secrets that would harm national security (the arms shipment by the intelligence agency to Syria), and insulting Mr. Erdogan. Police raided her apartment immediately after the fail coup attempt. There is an arrest warrant against her for her investigative reports. She has four books published. She started to work as a journalist in New Canadian Media in January 2021. She takes part in James Cullingham's documentary project on "The cost of freedom" and "refugee journalists in Canada”.
