Green Ambassador Program

The Green Ambassador Program is a partnership between the Trent Sustainability Office and Housing that supports sustainable living in residence. As a Green Ambassador, you'll help students discover simple ways to reduce their environmental impact and build everyday habits that support climate action and the circular economy.

Students living on campus have a unique opportunity to make a real difference. With tens of thousands of small decisions made each day, individual efforts quickly add up. Green Ambassadors work within residence communities to connect students with resources, answer questions, and inspire action. Whether someone is unsure where to start or already passionate about sustainability, Green Ambassadors help make it easier to take the next step.

If you're looking for a meaningful way to get involved, develop your leadership skills, and support others in creating a more sustainable campus, consider becoming a Green Ambassador.

Roles
The Green Ambassador's primary role is to work in collaboration with the Sustainability Office, residence Dons, and other Green Ambassadors to promote sustainable practices in their residence community. This can be carried out through a variety of responsibilities, which may include but are not limited to:

  • Sharing information about sustainability initiatives and events at your residence community meetings

  • Assisting Dons in planning and delivering Sustainability Office "Event in a Box" programs

  • Attending training sessions with the Sustainability Office

  • Joining and actively contributing to your residence community’s group chat

Why Become a Green Ambassador?
At the Sustainability Office, we deeply value our volunteers' time and effort. Becoming a Green Ambassador comes with a number of potential benefits, which may include:

  • A notation on your co-curricular record

  • Valuable experience and skills to add to your resume

  • Course credit (for certain courses)

  • Opportunities to meet others who are passionate about sustainability

  • Access to exclusive prizes and awards

How to Apply
Fill out our Volunteer Sign-Up Form.  The form will ask for some basic information about yourself, your interest in volunteering, and how we can reach you.  Be sure to answer “yes” to the question asking if you are signing up for the Green Ambassador Program. Once the form is submitted, we will follow up with a welcome email and the next steps.
