Masks Strongly Encouraged Indoors on Campus and in Academic Spaces

Trent Encourages “Layers of Protection” against COVID, RSV and the Flu

An image of a student sitting behind a desk with a laptop in front of them during a lecture. Next to them is text that reads: Layers of Protection; with graphics representing hand washing, wearing a mask, social distancing, staying home, and staying up to date with vaccines.

A message for all Trent students

Dear Students,

Trent University is echoing the message of Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, encouraging the use of “layers of protection” to help protect against COVID-19, the flu, and other respiratory illnesses like RSV circulating this fall.

  • Stay home if you are unwell. Complete the Province’s updated self-assessment for recommendations on what to do if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness or have tested positive for COVID-19. If you miss a class, be sure to keep up with your academic work and ask a classmate for notes. Talk to your instructor if you will miss a test or assignment.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged indoors and in all academic spaces on campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses. If you need a mask, you can pick one up from libraries at both campuses and at any of the college offices or the Student Centre in Peterborough.
  • Get vaccinated. Get your COVID-19 bivalent booster dose and flu shot as soon as possible. Book a vaccine appointment at a local clinic through Ontario’s online booking portal. Walk-ins are also welcome at the Oshawa Centre and Peterborough Square clinics. The next GO VAXX mobile clinic at our Peterborough Campus is on November 24.
  • Practice good hand hygiene and wash your hands frequently.

The University continues to monitor conditions and consult with Public Health. Updates and further information is available at the Trent Forward website.

Be sure to reach out to Student Affairs or your College office if you if you have questions, or require support.
