Ashley Fearnall close up portrait Ashley Fearnall

2017 Graduate with B.A. in Political Studies

What she's doing now: Working as an intern with the Office of the Minister for the Status of Women

Impact at Trent: "It changed everything... I will always appreciate what I have learned, but I will be eternally grateful for the confidence the community of people had in my abilities long before I did."

Advice for prospective and current students: "Find your space in this community, and if it is not there, create it. There are hundreds of fantastic opportunities for you to find your 'politics' and your confidence."

What he's doing now: Attending York University for a B.ed

Impact at Trent: "My degree has given me critical thinking skills I do not believe I could have developed otherwise. Also, having someone teaching about something he was so intimately involved in was an experience I am really glad I could have."

Favourite classes at Trent University: Canadian Environmental Policies, Canadian Social Policies, and Contemporary Canadian Problems

Advice to first year students: "Do not get discouraged by first year, it is an overwhelming experience that is very tough. As long as as you are interested in the material and enjoy learning about it do not worry if you do not do well at first."

Advice to first year students: "Try to get to know your classmates and professors better, and if you will do so, your experience at Trent will be unforgettable, trust me!"

Impact at Trent: "Trent students were great as they had that never-ending passion for a better future... It was a pleasure to be with those people in the same room and develop plans together."

What she misses about Trent University: the close-knit inclusive community, the Seasoned Spoon, and paddling in the Otonabee River
