Philosophy Co-op

Interested in Philosophy and hoping to gain work experience before graduating? The Philosophy Co-op program might be right for you. At Trent, you have the unique opportunity to gain three full semesters of work experience while graduating with a BA with a major in Philosophy at the same time as your peers. Philosophy is the perfect discipline to build necessary workplace skills like written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and reading comprehension, all skills that are in demand regardless of the career path that you pursue.

Benefits of Co-op

  • Develop the critical thinking and communication skills you would have developed in a traditional Philosophy education
  • Gain valuable support and guidance from the Trent Co-op team as you develop professional skills and complete your work terms
  • Over 1200 hours of work experience before graduation
  • Graduate with confidence in your professional skills and connections from your three different work terms

Ellen Edmonds-Whyte

"My time in Philosophy and Co-op has been nothing short of amazing. Being able to pursue my love for Philosophy while gaining the work experience I know will be important when I graduate is something I didn't know was possible. It has exceeded all of my expectations. The Philosophy Department here at Trent is such a special community that I am lucky to be a part of, and the Co-op team is unbelievably supportive. I would recommend the program to anyone interested in Philosophy or Co-op."

- Ellen Edmonds-Whyte, Philosophy Co-op student
