Trent University mourns the loss of two students

March 29, 2013

The Trent community is mourning the tragic loss of Madeleine Havelock and Thomas Guerette. Our deepest sympathies are with their families and friends, and our thoughts are also with the other people injured in the accident. Trent Counselling and Spiritual Affairs are available for members of the University community next week.

Trent staff are working with the families to arrange memorials in Peterborough. Further information will be posted once details are finalized.

Thomas Paul Guerette
Tragically, as the result of an accident, on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the age of 22. Cherished son of Margo Forsythe and Paul Guerette. Adored brother of Andrew Kevin and David James. Much loved grandson of Joan Forsythe (née Haggart) and the late William Forsythe, Roger and Lillian Guerette. Tom will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially his girlfriend Zoe. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Barrhaven Chapel (3000 Woodroffe Avenue, 613-823-4747) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Service in Memory will be celebrated in the chapel on Thursday at 10 am. In memoriam, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada are appreciated.

You are invited to share in the creation of the site by adding a condolence and any remembrances, photos, and video clips appropriate to the life of Thomas Paul Guerette. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Madeleine "Maddie"  Julia Havelock
Tragically, we lost our Maddie as a result of an accident on Thursday March 28th, 2013, at the young age of 21. She will forever be the beloved daughter of Glenn and Charlene Havelock. She leaves behind her dearest cat Boo and her protectors, brothers Jared and Nicholas. Cherished granddaughter of "Oma" Jacqueline and the late Gerrit Dikken; Jean and the late Michael "Mac" Havelock. Dear niece of Grace (Stephen), Jacquie (Joe) and Henni (Hans). She will always be remembered by her cousins, her extended family, friends and especially Steve. Family and friends may pay their respects at Capital Memorial Chapel and Visitation Centre (3700 Prince of Wales Dr. 613-692-1211) on Thursday April 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9pm. Before the service family and friends are welcome to gather at Calvin Christian Reform (1475 Merivale Rd.) church on Friday after 11:30 am. The celebration of her life will be held in the church at 1 pm. In memoriam, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society or to Trent University are appreciated. We will never forget her beautiful smile and we will always be listening for her contagious laugh.
