Trent University Mourns the Passing of Dr. Bernard Pritchard

Trent University was saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Bernard Pritchard on Friday, September 6, 2013.

Dr. Ruggles ("Rug") Bernard Pritchard joined Trent in 1970 doing clinical work in Health Services. He was appointed as the director of Health Services on July 1, 1974 and remained in this role until he retired in October, 1992.

Below is Dr. Pritchard’s obituary in the Peterborough Examiner:

PRITCHARD, Dr. Ruggles ("Rug") Bernard - On Friday, September 6, 2013, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, in his 86th year. He was surrounded by his beloved wife, Betty (nee McLean) of 58 years; daughters Elizabeth Vanderwater and Peggy (Andrew Kropinski); son, Blair (Denise, nee Shaw). Lovingly remembered by his granddaughters Ruth-Anne Vanderwater (Keith Marchant) and Catherine Vanderwater (Dave Carroll). Dr. Pritchard practiced family medicine for many years and later served the community as Director, Health Services, Trent University. He also served as Coroner for the province of Ontario for 31 years. Visitation will be held at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME, 356 Rubidge Street, on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity United Church, 360 Reid Street, on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rug may be made to Trinity United Church or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the PRHC palliative care team for their exceptional care in his final days. Online condolences may be made atwww.comstockfuneralhome.com
