Child and Youth Studies Alumni Reflect on Friendship, Mentorship, and Memories
Orientation Week friendships, hands-on events, supportive faculty and a memorable classroom prank shaped these alumni’s Trent Durham experience
When five alumni from Trent Durham GTA’s Child and Youth Studies program returned to campus, it didn’t take long to reignite the memories and laughter.
Rea Mulliqi ’17, Veronica Pietsch ’18, Karina Arruda ’19, Jacoya Laplante ’17, and Derek Campoli ’17 reminisced about how their time in the program and their friendships were shaped by campus and community events, as well as the meaningful mentorship of faculty members, such as Dr. Alba Agostino.
“She is the epitome of what Child and Youth Studies is,” said Rea of Professor Agostino. “She cares about her students. At 17-18, we were still children, discovering ourselves. She helped broaden our horizons, supported us, and made us feel comfortable with the unknown, all while teaching us.”
