Lucile McGregor ’74 (Champlain College) a proud Trent University alumni and recipient of the Spirit of Trent Award in 1996, is remembered for her commitment to building community and strengthening alumni connections

Lucile McGregor '74. Her legacy lives on at Trent University.

The Trent community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lucile McGregor ’74 (Champlain College), whose passion for Trent and lifelong dedication to service made a lasting impact on the University.

A graduate of Trent University, with a major in history, Lucile was instrumental in developing the first Ottawa Alumni Chapter, creating a vibrant network that brought graduates together and fostered lifelong connections.

Lucile enjoyed a distinguished career with the House of Commons, where her intelligence, professionalism, and mentorship shaped countless colleagues, including many clerks of the House and Senate. Respected across Parliament Hill for her sharp mind and gracious manner, Lucile left a legacy of guidance and support.

In recognition of her extraordinary contributions and embodiment of Trent’s values of leadership, service, and community, Lucile received the Spirit of Trent Award in 1996. Her love for Trent was evident throughout her life, and her efforts continue to inspire alumni and friends of the University.

The Trent community extends heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness and community-building vision.
