As Governor General — and past Trent Chancellor — Mary Simon so beautifully said in her tribute to Dr. Cook posted on social media: Tim’s legacy will continue to inspire us all.
A recipient of the 2016 Trent University Distinguished Alumni Award, Dr. Cook was also recognized nationally for his contributions to Canadian history. His honours included the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation, and the Governor General’s History Award. He was a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Member of the Order of Canada.

The University extends heartfelt condolences to Dr. Cook’s family, friends, colleagues, and all who were impacted by his life and legacy.
