Hand Dryers Help Blow Waste Away for a Cleaner Campus
Achieving zero waste by 2028 at Trent starts with paper towels
As part of Trent University’s goal to achieve zero waste by 2028, the Trent Zero Waste Focus Group is making common sense changes to reduce waste and improve sustainability on campus, with one key area being paper towel usage.
While composting paper towels keeps them out of the landfill, reducing their use entirely further shrinks Trent’s environmental footprint and brings the added benefit of cost savings.
Did you know that single-use materials like these impact the environment throughout its entire lifecycle including the fuel to ship them to campus and to dispose of them?
That's why Trent is beginning a phased installation of energy-efficient hand dryers in more buildings on campus, starting next month. These dryers are a low-emission alternative which will offer a return on investment in less than a year.
The focus group periodically identifies opportunities across campus to reduce waste, improve diversion, and support long-term sustainability goals and encourages you to reach out with questions and ideas.
