Trent University Mourns the Passing of Trent Employee Sandi Carr
Sandi Carr was a dedicated staff member whose commitment to Trent supported generations of students and scholars over two decades of service
The Trent community is saddened to learn of the passing of Sandi Carr, a long-serving staff member who made lasting contributions to both the Department of Anthropology and the Office of Research and Graduate Studies spanning more than two decades of service.
Beginning her career at Trent in September 1982, Sandi served as secretary in the Department of Anthropology, where her diligence and warmth supported faculty and students alike. In January 1992, she became the academic administrative secretary within the department, continuing her steadfast support for the academic mission and the close-knit Anthropology community.
In May 1999, she transitioned to the role of graduate studies & research officer in the Research and Graduate Studies Department. Her expertise and care helped guide many graduate students through the complex processes of funding, research, and academic progress. She retired from the University on August 1, 2003.
Her contributions to graduate education are honoured each year through the Sandi Carr Award for Excellence in Graduate Research Support, presented to a staff or faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding support for graduate student research, as well as the Sandi Carr Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Both awards are a lasting testament to the care, dedication, and impact Sandi brought to the Trent community.
