Natural Gas Line Installation on East Bank May 19–23

Safe gas venting will occur as part of service upgrade

Enbridge Gas will be installing a new natural gas service line along East Bank Drive — from Nassau Mills Road to the Forensics Building — during the week of May 19–23.

This necessary service upgrade is being completed in preparation for the construction of Gidigaa Migizi College and the new Otonabee College residence.

Once the new line is fully installed and tested, the crew will switch service over to the new line, with no disruption to natural gas users on East Bank.

In order to safely decommission the old line, gas purging and venting will take place. This work is expected to take place on Wednesday, May 21. During this work, you may see and smell natural gas vapour being released from the old lines. This is a normal part of the process and safe for anyone in close proximity to the work. Any gas will dissipate quickly.

Crews are in full compliance with relevant safety regulations and environmental standards. There is no risk to the campus community.

Visit the Campus Projects Hub for more information about Gidigaa Migizi College and the new Otonabee College residence.
