Trent University is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kathleen Easson ’78 (Champlain College), a long-serving staff member who was passionate about the University and served as a dedicated volunteer with many campus events. Kathleen's career as an administrative assistant, with what was then known as Alumni Affairs, spanned over two decades.

Kathleen attended Trent University from 1978 to 1981, earning a B.A. in History. In 1982, she began her career at Bata Library, where she held various positions including senior cataloging assistant, reference and circulation assistant, and coordinator of Library Services for Continuing Education.

In 1988, Kathleen transitioned to Alumni Affairs where she was renowned for her impeccable organizational skills, mentorship, development of alumni programming, keen sense of humour, and generous spirit. Through her role on the Trent University Alumni Association Council, Kathleen played a significant role in supporting special events including Alumni reunion weekends and the Used Book Sale.

“I had the privilege of working closely with Kathleen for nearly her entire time at Trent,” said former Alumni Affairs director Tony Storey ’71 (Champlain College). “Her support was invaluable to my career. She was fiercely proud of our University and served as a significant mentor to student assistants for over two decades. Her dedication to helping students often led to her taking on additional roles, such as senior tutor of Otonabee College.”

In 2011, the Kathleen Easson Fund was established at Alumni House to support improvements to the grounds and gardens.

Kathleen married fellow alum Glen Easson ’89 (Julian Blackburn College), who worked in Facilities Management at the University.
