On Giving Tuesday, Momentous campaign leaders offer a generous $50,000 matching gift to double the impact to the Trent Fund

The holiday season is a time for celebration, reflection, and gratitude. It's also an opportunity to give back to our community.

Your contribution to the Trent Fund ensures that every student – no matter their background – has the opportunity to thrive. The Trent Fund provides critical support where it’s needed most, ensuring that every student, whether they are pursuing a career in research, sustainability, or community leadership, has the resources they need to succeed.

“On Giving Tuesday (December 3), the world’s largest generosity movement, I am calling on the Trent family to help us make the greatest impact for current and future generations of students by donating to the Trent Fund,” says Sherry Booth ’98, associate vice-president Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement. “Your kindness is transforming lives, providing essential support, and helping our students achieve their dreams. Together, we are building a brighter future for everyone at Trent University.”

This Giving Tuesday, a special opportunity to double the impact of donations has been made possible by Momentous Campaign leaders Gavin Marshall ’76 and Linda Schuyler ’18 (hon). The first $50,000 donated to the Trent Fund will be matched, dollar for dollar.

Raven, a fourth-year Social Work student at Trent University Durham GTA, is in awe of how complete strangers, through their generosity, have profoundly changed her life’s trajectory. As the first member of her family to attend university, the Trent Fund was crucial to her success, providing financial support when she needed it most. With the support she received, she was able to secure student housing, giving her a private room in which to live and study. What might seem like a simple bedroom to some, was made possible through a life-changing gift from a stranger for Raven.

“The Trent Fund gives the extraordinary young leaders of tomorrow, like Raven, the essential tools to do the most important job faced by every generation—to build a better, sustainable tomorrow,” says Momentous campaign leader Gavin Marshall ’76 (Lady Eaton College). The challenge facing this generation has never been greater and in turn the need for us to make this essential investment has never been greater.”
