Thanks to generous and inspirational support, Trent University is celebrating its 60th anniversary in a position of strength

On National Philanthropy Day (November 15), Trent University is celebrating its many generous supporters.

“On this special day, I am reminded of president and vice-chancellor Dr. Cathy Bruce’s installation speech that shared her hopeful vision for the ‘Trent of Tomorrow’ that focused on the key areas of community, leadership, and sustainability,” said Sherry Booth ’98, associate vice president Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement. “As we celebrate National Philanthropy Day, I am reminded that our supporters are a cornerstone of our Trent community, a beacon of leadership, and a driving force for sustainability.”

Thanks to generous support, Trent is celebrating its 60th anniversary in a position of strength. A few key highlights from the previous year include:

  • Trent Durham GTA celebrated its 50th anniversary recognizing this growing campus’ positive impact in the Durham Region and beyond.

  • The Trent University Endowment surpassed $100 million, enabling Trent to invest more in areas such as student experience, research, teaching, our Colleges, athletics, and beautiful campus spaces, thus strengthening Trent’s sustainability.

  • Our 2023-24 Momentous Impact Report highlights stories including a gift to elevate Canadian history for students and researchers, new scholarships and spaces for Chemistry students, a new breastfeeding friendly space on campus, and a legacy gift to provide the first building at the Trent Research Farm.

The Momentous Impact report also notes that the Momentous Campaign video Gratitude for All Our Relation - featuring a spoken-word poem by Indigenous alumna Sarah Lewis ’14 (Gzowski College) - has earned three awards.

“We can’t think of a more powerful way to say thank you than through our award-winning video with Nogojiwanong-Peterborough’s inaugural Poet Laureate Sarah Lewis ’14,” Booth said. “As Sarah so eloquently puts it, ‘Thank you to all for watering the sacred seeds of philanthropy.’”
