Trent University has established a new research collaboration with Trouvé Victory Inc., an emerging electric vehicle manufacturing company, to advance clean technology innovations and their applications in sustainable transportation.

“The Office of Research and Innovation at Trent University is pleased to announce this industry collaboration with Trouvé, as it enhances our pursuit of green, clean tech innovations and their application in key sectors for Ontario and internationally,” said Dr. Cathy Bruce, vice president, Research and Innovation at Trent University. “This collaboration will further expand the work of several Trent researchers with notable expertise in fields such as biology, chemistry, biomaterials, and materials science with a focus on sustainable solutions and approaches.”

Research on biomaterials for use in electric vehicles is just one of the projects being explored between scientists at Trent and collaborators at Trouvé Victory Inc. Trouvé has been building momentum in the automotive sector with the launch of several EV designs and ambitious plans to engage in research and design to bring new Canadian electric vehicles to market.

“Our slogan ‘Driven by Innovation’ truly expresses Trouvé’s long-term vision: to innovate and use the latest advances in zero-emission electric car manufacturing for the purpose of producing green hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles to the world market,” said Faruk K. Rama, chairman of Trouvé Victory Inc. “Our collaboration with Trent University research scientists will enable us to live up to this vision.”

Trent’s new MOU with Trouvé reflects the University’s commitment to advancing clean technology innovation in the region. The collaboration will also lead to research and experiential learning opportunities for Trent’s undergraduate and graduate students. According to the 2021 Research Infosource rankings, Trent was second in all of Canada for growth in corporate and non-profit research income in its primarily undergraduate class. The University was also ranked in the top three of sustainable campuses in Canada in the 2021 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.
