Hamza Khan to lead week-long speaker series as Trent University’s 42nd Ashley Fellow

On the heels of announcing the next Ashley Fellow, the Colleges of Trent University are excited to welcome Hamza Khan to the “in-residence” piece of his Fellowship with an in-person visit to Trent’s Symons Campus, October 17-21, 2022.

A world-renowned leader on resilience and productivity, Hamza says he is “excited to attend a variety of classes, especially from the institution's wide array of Indigenous course offerings.”

Hamza, a best-selling author, future-of-work expert and global keynote speaker was named the 2021/22 Ashley Fellow at Trent University at the end of 2021.

Sitting at the height of the fourth wave, Hamza ably met the challenges of COVID, visiting students and classrooms through virtual engagements that were inspiring and thought-provoking. With restrictions lifting at the University, Hamza is finally able to come and share in the in-person Trent experience.

“I'm deeply honoured to have been selected as Trent University's 2021-22 Ashley Fellow, and I am looking forward to being on campus to complete the residency portion of the Fellowship, this fall,” said Hamza. Author of The Burnout Gamble and Leadership Reinvented, Hamza has a keen interest in the success of post-secondary students. As a leader in innovation and thought, educator at Toronto Metropolitan University, and the co-founder of SkillsCamp, Hamza strives to empower leaders and organizations to thrive in the future of work.

Hamza will be meeting with staff and faculty across campus in a variety of informal and formal sessions during his visit. He is providing a guest lecture in a business class, and providing a SkillsCamp workshop, in collaboration with the Colleges and Careerspace, that is focused on how soft skills can help our students achieve professional success and increase their employability. On Thursday and Friday, students will be able to book one-on-one mentorship sessions with Hamza to learn more about leadership, resilience, and productivity from a global thought leader and expert on the future of work.

Hamza is also offering a public lecture titled Empowering Leadership, on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 pm, in Bagnani Hall, at Catharine Parr Traill College. Members of the Trent and the wider Peterborough community are welcome to attend and can register online.

Additional opportunities to meet with Hamza this fall will be posted on the MyTrent calendar.
