On-Campus Vaccine Clonic - August 28 - Durham GTA Campus

An on-campus vaccine clinic will be hosted Saturday, August 28 at Trent University Durham Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for new and continuing students, as well as staff, faculty and local community members who need their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinic is being coordinated between Trent University Durham and the Durham Region Health Department. This follows announcements by Trent University regarding new policies requiring those who live and study on campus to be fully-vaccinated this fall.

“We know that a fully-vaccinated campus is the best way to ensure a safe and successful academic year,” said Dr. Scott Henderson, dean and head of Trent University Durham GTA. “Providing accessible opportunities for our students, staff, faculty and local communities to receive their vaccine is just another step in our commitment to providing a healthy learning environment this fall.”

The vaccination clinic will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the front atrium of Trent University’s campus at 55 Thornton Road South, in Oshawa. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available. No appointments are required.

The University will also be offering small, physically distanced campus tours, following all public health guidelines – featuring spaces in the new residence and academic building which opened in September 2020 – as well as a Trent gift for each person who comes to campus during the clinic. Trent University president and vice-chancellor, Dr. Leo Groarke, will join Dr. Henderson, dean and head of Trent Durham, at the clinic on August 28 to welcome guests to the campus.

“One of the best things about the Trent Durham campus is the focus on community. This vaccination clinic is no exception,” said Dr. Henderson. “I see this Saturday as a great opportunity for community members to explore our new campus spaces and see first-hand what makes Trent Durham an inspiring place to live and study.”

On August 18, Trent University announced a new COVID-19 vaccine requirement for all students, staff, faculty and others coming to campus this fall. The vaccine requirement is one of several health and safety measures the University has put in place to ensure a safe return to campus. Other measures include the mandatory use of face masks when indoors, health screening, enhanced air filtration and ventilation, robust cleaning and sanitization, on-campus COVID-19 testing, and wastewater surveillance.
