Trent University Mourns the Passing of Kate (Kathy) Shearer

Ms. Shearer was a dedicated employee of Trent University over the past 14 years

The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Kate Shearer who worked as a caretaker with the University for 14 years.

Ms. Shearer started working as a caretaker in October 2005. During her time at Trent she was noted for being a hard-working and dedicated employee.

Ms. Shearer will also be remembered as an animal lover, who will be missed by all who knew her, including her four-legged friends.

Below is an excerpt from her obituary notice:

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of, Kate, at the PRHC, on Saturday, July 13, 2019, on her and Larry's 30th Wedding Anniversary, at the age of 61 years. Beloved wife of Larry. Loving mother of David (Mallory), and Shawn. Nana will be sadly missed by Chloe and Dallas. Dear sister of Sandra (Dave), Bill (Laura), Deborah Manning (Orville), Carol, Steve, Scott (Lourie), the late Bruce (Jan), and sister-in-law of Bob (Marg), Deb Barry (Bob), Cathy Rollings (Doug), Mike (Lisa), Brian (Deb), and the late Linda. Aunt Kate will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their extended families. Cherished best friend of Sandy Marsh, and Kate will be forever missed by her four legged friends.

Trent University extends heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Shearer’s family and friends, and to all who knew her at Trent University.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Shearer will take place on Saturday, July 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Nisbett Funeral Home, 600 Monaghan Road South in Peterborough.
