#FacesOfTrentU: Meet Trent’s First Female Judo Black Belt
Sarah Miller, third-year Nursing student
“I am honoured to become the first female judo black belt at Trent. It has been a long journey and I am very grateful for those who have helped me along the way. Judo has always been a part of my life, and to find out that I could still participate in it and study nursing at Trent was the real motivation for me to study here.”
Sarah Miller, third-year Nursing student from Welland, Ontario
With the help and support of Sensei Hino and the Trent Judo Club, Ms. Miller has been able to refine her Judo skills while studying at Trent University.
“I wanted to show the younger female generation that despite Judo being a male dominated sport, us girls should not shy away to persevere and strive for greatness.”
Trent University prides itself on providing an outstanding personal and interactive learning environment. This story is part of the #FacesofTrentU series, which highlights our many student success stories and the numerous dynamic programs offered at Trent.
