Trent University Durham GTA Pitches in to Clean Up Community Park
Collaborating with community partners on an environmental cause is at the heart of Trent
A group of Trent University Durham GTA students and staff participated in an annual spring cleanup of the Lynde Creek area of Brooklin Kinsmen Park on June 1.
This event was organized by the Whitby Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the EcoBusiness Network and Skyview Electronics. The day’s cleanup effort will be considered as part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.
Trent Durham GTA Marketing and Entrepreneurship postgraduate certificate student, Yashika Chahal, is currently doing an internship with the EcoBusiness Network as part of her program. She helped coordinate the park cleanup.
“The most valuable experience that I’ve gained from this internship is that I have really improved my communication skills, and learned how an organization works collaboratively to host community events,” said Ms. Chahal.
If you’re interested in getting involved in your community through an internship, the field-placement course may be for you. Visit the Internship page for more information.
