Exploration of genres other than science fiction has proven positive for Dr. Sylvie Bérard, professor and chair of French and Francophone Studies at Trent. Her latest book, Oubliez, a collection of poetry, has won the Trillium Book Award.

"I am extremely touched to be the recipient of the Trillium Award for French language poetry, especially given the quality of the finalists," says Professor Bérard. " I am honoured to have been published by Prise de parole, a publisher who actively, audaciously, gives a place to Francophone voices in Ontario. This award also reinforces my dedication of doing my best to keep French alive and vibrant in Ontario, through my writing, my research, and my teaching, including my teaching of creative writing at Trent."

Ontario’s leading award for literature, the Trillium Book Award recognizes the quality and diversity of the provinces writers and writing. The Trillium Book Awards were celebrated at a ceremony on June 21.
