Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of John Stanford

Dr. Stanford worked at Trent University from 1967 -1995

The Trent University community was saddened to learn of the passing of John Stanford. Dr. Stanford began working at Trent as an assistant professor in 1967. During his time at Trent, he was also the Chair of the Psychology department, and the principal of Lady Eaton College. Dr. Stanford retired in June 1995.

Below is an excerpt from his obituary notice:
Former Principal of Lady Eaton College at Trent University in Peterborough, passed away peacefully at his residence, on Monday February 19th, 2018. Jack Stanford age 84 years of Athens. Beloved husband of Lois (Schroeder) Stanford nee (Moffatt). Predeceased by his first wife Frances Stanford (nee Easton). Dear father of Lianne Stanford (Paul Crush) of Cambridge, England, Clarke Stanford (Vanessa Henton) of Barrie, Kiersta Stubbs (Michael) of St. Thomas, Stephen Schroeder, Brenda Schroeder, Douglas Schroeder and their families. Loving grandfather of Kyleigh Stubbs, Jack Stubbs, Abby Stanford, Ryan Stanford and Frances Crush. Brother of Belva Stanford-Cousens (Jack Wylie) of Ottawa and Bob Stanford (Shirley) of Brockville. Jack will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Harold Stanford and the former Mabel Jennie Carl. In memoriams to the Alzheimer's Society or the Athens Food Bank, will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

The University extends heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Stanford’s family and friends, and to all who knew him in Peterborough and at Trent University.
