Holiday Hours for Trent in Peterborough and Durham GTA

Find out more about our holiday hours for various departments

Holiday greetings from everyone at Trent University! Most academic and administrative operations at Trent University in Peterborough and Durham GTA will be closed for winter holidays at the end of business on Thursday, December 21, 2017 and will reopen Wednesday, January 3, 2018, however, individual office hours may vary so please call ahead.

Classes Schedule

Classes resume at both campuses Monday, January 8, 2018 for the winter semester.

Trent University Durham GTA campus

The Trent University Durham GTA campus will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21 and will reopen with modified hours Wednesday, January 3 through Friday, January 5, open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Regular hours will resume Monday, January 8, 2018.

Student Residences

Student Residences will close at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 and reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

Risk Management and Security Operations

Peterborough:  Campus Security will remain on duty 24/7 throughout the holiday season. All building exterior doors, labs and classrooms will remain locked. Access cards will continue to allow entry to non-residence buildings. Campus Security strongly recommends you advise them, by calling 705-748-1328 or emailing security@trentu.ca, if you must access a campus building during the break. Persons without access cards and/or keys to non-residence buildings will require prior written approval from their department head that clearly specifies time(s) and location(s) of required access. Please contact Campus Security to gain access in this circumstance.

Durham GTA: There will be no access to campus for students, faculty or staff during this closure.  Security will continue to monitor the building and property.

Library Services

Library Services will close on Thursday, December 21 at 5:00 p.m., and will reopen with reduced hours Wednesday, January 3, 2018 through to Friday, January 5, 2018, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Library Services will resume regular schedule Monday, January 8, 2018. Please check the Library website for full details.

The Student Centre

The Student Centre will offer extended hours for exam study from Wednesday, December 6 to Wednesday, December 20, 2017. During these dates the Student Centre is open 24 hours. The Student Centre will close for the winter holidays on Thursday, December 21 at 5:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Student Centre hours Wednesday, January 3 through to Friday, January 5 are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The building will be closed Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7 and will re-open Monday, January 8, 2018 with new operating hours, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Starbucks in the Student Centre will shift their hours to the following for the holidays:

  • 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday, December 11 through to Tuesday, December 19
  • 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20
  • 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21
  • Reopen Wednesday, January 3, 2018 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Regular hours 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. begin Monday, January 8, 2018 

Athletics Centre

The Athletics Centre at Trent is open throughout the holidays, but will be closed Christmas Day and new Year’s Eve (Sunday, December 31). Holiday hours begin Friday, December 22, with regular hours resuming Tuesday, January 2. Please check the Athletics Centre website for full details, hours of operation, and schedules.

University and Student Services Holiday Closures

  • Academic Advising – check the website for advising drop-in hours and advisor availability, December 11-14 open 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., closed Thursday, December 15; reopens Monday, January 8 at 9:00 a.m. with drop-in advising in all College offices

  • Academic Skills – drop-in hours end Thursday, December 14, appointments available until Wednesday, December 20; reopens Monday, January 8

  • Campus Card Office – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Campus Tours – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Career Centre – closed Thursday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Centre for Academic Testing – closed Tuesday, December 20 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 9:00 a.m.
  • First Peoples House of Learning – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Housing Services – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Sunday, January 7 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Human Resources/Payroll – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Trent International - closed Thursday, December 21 at 4:30 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 8:30 a.m.
  • I.T. Service Desk – closed Thursday, December 21 at 4:30 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Office of the Registrar – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Parking Services – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 8:00 a.m.
  • Print & Post – the Printshop and Mailroom will be closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Student Accounts – closed Thursday, December 21 at 12:00 p.m.; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Student Wellness Centre Counselling, & Accessibility Services – closed Thursday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Monday, January 8 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Student Wellness Centre Health Services – closed Thursday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m.; reopens Monday, January 8 at 9:00 a.m.
  • School of Graduate Studies – temporary closures Wednesday, December 6, open 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Tuesday, December 19 open 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., closed Thursday, December 21 at 4:00 pm; reopens Wednesday, January 3 at 10:00 a.m.

Campus Foodservices

Campus Foodservices: The hours of operation over the holidays can be found on the Chartwells website.

Bus Schedule

West and East Bank express service continues until Thursday, December 21, is suspended from Friday, December 22 until Friday, January 5, and resumes with the weekend schedule on Saturday, January 6. The full schedule is available online at the Trent Central Student Association website.
