Dr. Michael Eamon, principal of Catharine Parr Traill College and director of Continuing Education, was honoured in Brockville, Ontario for his past work with the federal government and for his current efforts at Trent University in the promotion of higher education.

On November 4, Professor Eamon was inducted into the Hall of Excellence at the 125-year-old Brockville Collegiate Institute in front of a packed auditorium of honour students and their families.  Prof. Eamon shared the stage with fellow inductee Grieg Clark, founder of College Pro Painters, who was honoured for his role as an entrepreneur.  

Both were invited to speak for several minutes prior to accepting the award.  In the words of the local paper, “Professor Eamon demonstrated his skill as a lecturer with a dynamic speech that saw him frequently leave the podium.”  He explained the influence that Trent University’s motto “Nunc cognosco ex parte” (“Now I know in part”) has had on his mentorship of students.  He told the assembled grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 award-winners that it was important to seek knowledge throughout life and to be proud, as he said, “to be a know-it-some” instead of a “know-it-all.”
