November 6, 2017

Ms. McMahon began work at Trent University in 2003

The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Donna McMahon. Ms. McMahon began working at Trent University in 2003. During her 14+ years at the University, she worked primarily as a caretaker in most buildings at Trent, most recently in the DNA Building. She also worked briefly as MV1 scheduler and driver for the mailroom. Her positive attitude and cheerful personality made her a favourite amongst fellow staff members, students and faculty alike.

Trent University extends heartfelt sympathies to Ms. McMahon’s family and friends, and to all who knew her.

Below is an excerpt from Donna McMahon’s obituary notice:

It is with great sadness that the family of Donna Marie McMahon announces her passing at the Kingston General Hospital on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the age of 62. Donna will be forever remembered by her husband John McMahon, and their daughters Julie (Matt) and Samantha (Matt), and by her 4 grandchildren, Blake, Addison, Hayden and Madelyn. Visitation will be held at the COMSTOCK-KAYE Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St, on Wednesday, November 8 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. with a Memorial Service in the chapel at 4:00 p.m. Reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Doyle Hall, 317 Hunter Street. Those who so desire may make donations in Memory of Donna to the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockkaye.com

Human Resources would like to take this opportunity to remind all staff and faculty that Trent University offers confidential support services through our Employee Assistance Program, Lifeworks. You can access Lifeworks services by telephone (1-877-207-8833) or at www.LifeWorks.com. If you have any questions about this service, or other support Human Resources may be able to provide, please contact Kimberley Aubrey.

In honour of Ms. McMahon, the University will lower the flag atop the Bata Library to the half-mast position on Wednesday, November 8, the day of her service.
