Alumnus Don Tapscott presented one of top honours in our country

Trent Chancellor Appointed to Order of Canada

Recognized as a leading world authority on innovation, media, and the economic and social impact of technology, Trent University alumnus and chancellor, Don Tapscott, has been awarded one of the highest honours in Canada, being named a member of the Order of Canada.

On July 1, 2015 His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced 100 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Appointments were made on the recommendation of the Advisory Council for the Order of Canada.

When asked for his reaction on the award, Don Tapscott said, "I’m honoured and humbled. I’m also proud, as this is a good reflection on Trent University and the Peterborough community too.” Mr. Tapscott will be honoured at a ceremony at a later date.

The Order of Canada, one of our country's highest civilian honours, was established in 1967, during Canada's centennial year, to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. Over the last 45 years, more than 6 000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order.
