The Trent and greater Peterborough community gathered at the Justin Chiu stadium, in celebration of Trent’s Men’s Rugby team. In their final season competing in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA), the team finished on a high note with an undefeated season and gold medal win.  Trent Men’s Rugby team will re-join the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) next season.

Joining Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent, in offering congratulations and presenting the team with their championship banner, was Steven Pillar, vice-president of finance and administration at Trent, Deborah Bright-Brundle, director of Trent Athletics, Allan Seabrooke, CAO of the City of Peterborough and Warden J. Murray Jones, warden of Peterborough County.

“You are very worthy champions,” expressed David McCully who coached the team together with Mike Bubyn. “A championship is the result of sustained and impressive commitment. You all put each other’s needs ahead of your own.”
