Trent Students Raise Over $4000 for Local Charity
Business Administration Students Work Together to Raise Money for Friends of Honduran Children
After a very successful fundraiser that was organized by a Trent University Business Administration class, a cheque for over $4,000 was presented yesterday to Friends of Honduran Children representative, Allison Grierson. Last semester, the third year Business Administration class, Politics of Budgeting, was encouraged to help raise money for this local Peterborough charity by Prof. Kathryn Campbell. Over the past 3 years Prof. Campbell’s classes have raised over $11,000 for this charity and she hopes to continue the tradition.
The fundraiser took place last month at local downtown nightclub, The Trasheteria. Part-time student and manager of The Trasheteria, Hailey Burkitt, organized and ran the fundraising event “Juntos,” translated from Spanish to mean “Together,” on Friday, January 22, 2010. Bringing together the community and over 20 local businesses to create awareness and financial support, the event raised money through door cover, raffles, a bake sale and more!
