Trent Appoints New Oshawa Enrolment Advisor
Trent University Oshawa graduate Valerie Naylor takes on key liaison role to recruit prospective students and engage the Durham community
Trent University is pleased to announce the appointment of Valerie Naylor, a recent Trent University Oshawa graduate, as the new enrolment advisor for Oshawa and the Durham Region.
“Valerie was an outstanding student leader at Trent in Oshawa, who effectively brought together the energies of Durham College and UOIT,” says Dr. Michael Allcott, Trent’s associate registrar. “Her experience with those institutions, and working in Oshawa, give her the perspectives to understand the needs and aspirations of many students in the region. Her knowledge and experience will help to connect many in our new neighbourhood to the distinct educational advantages Trent brings to Oshawa.”
As the new enrolment advisor for Trent University Oshawa, Ms. Naylor will be reaching out to prospective students who would benefit from and contribute to the Trent community. The position provides students and community members with information about Trent in Oshawa’s new Thornton Road campus and its facilities, programs, and student life opportunities. As a direct contact person, Ms Naylor will also provide a vital link between Trent University and the citizens of Durham Region during this time of the University’s growth.
“I am excited to help students realize their potential and find their fit at our new Thornton Road Campus,” said an enthusiastic Ms. Naylor. “Talking about how great Trent University is and my experiences at the Oshawa campus comes so naturally to me, this position just seems a good fit.”
Ms. Naylor, originally from Cobourg, Ontario, graduated from Trent University in June. While attending Trent University Oshawa, Ms. Naylor studied English and History and actively participated in several extra-curricular activities including serving two terms as vice president of the Trent in Oshawa Student Association and sitting on the Trent in Oshawa Durham Region Steering Committee.
Building on a 35-year history of granting degrees in the Durham Region, Trent University’s new Thornton Road campus in Oshawa will be a hub for learning and innovation. At the new campus, a tradition of strong academic programming in a variety of disciplines and dedicated student support will be complemented by contemporary and modern new facilities. Construction on the new campus is currently underway and the new building will open for students in September 2010. To learn more, visit the website.
