For Admission to a Master's or Doctoral program

The information provided here is a guide to determine how your academic credentials compare to Trent's minimum admission requirements.

Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee an offer of admission will be made. An admission decision cannot be made until your entire application package has been reviewed. Programs are competitive with limited enrolment. Those who meet or exceed all requirements will be given preference.  

Applicants from countries not listed below are also encouraged to apply. Pre-assessments cannot be conducted. Please submit an application and all required documentation to receive consideration.  

General Guidelines:

PLEASE NOTE: This information is provided only as a guideline. Accurate assessments cannot be made until applicants apply, pay the application fee, and upload required documents for review.

• For admission into a Master’s program, most programs will require the equivalent to a university’s 4-year Honours Bachelor's degree with a minimum Ontario grade of B+ or 77% in the last two years of full-time study
  • Some programs may require a higher or lower admission average (ex. Graduate Diplomas, the Pre-Master's pathway, Ph.D. programs, etc.)
  • Some programs may include additional criteria, such as course specific grades, for admission   
  • Please refer to individual graduate program admission pages for exact requirements for each program
• Programs may consider those with slightly lower averages depending on experience and merit. Those who fall just below recommended averages are encouraged to apply for consideration  
• For admission into a Doctoral program, applicants must hold a Master’s degree
• The Grading System referenced below is the most common system for each country. Those not represented are encouraged to apply for consideration
• All applicants are required to submit grading scales/transcript legends with their application
