The Trent Advantage
Complete your Criminology degree fully online, in person, or through a combination of both while exploring crime, justice, and social inequality through multiple lenses.
Crime and justice cannot be understood through a single lens. At Trent, you'll explore the forces that shape criminalization and punishment while learning from faculty in Sociology, Law, Gender & Social Justice, and Indigenous Studies. Together, these perspectives help you better understand how crime, justice, policy, and social inequality intersect in today's world.
- Choose a flexible study pathway. This program is available fully online, in person, or as a hybrid option with both.
- Learn alongside award-winning faculty, including the Canada Research Chair in Community-Partnered Social Justice.
- Connect classroom learning with professional experience through the paid co-op stream or fourth-year practicum working in community, government, and justice-related organizations.
Program Possibilites
Add an Option to your Criminology degree to explore an additional area of interest
-
Legal Studies
Understanding the legal system in Canada is valuable for everyone, not just lawyers and policy makers. A complement to virtually any B.A. or B.Sc. degree, this option provides students with fundamental knowledge about Canadian law. You’ll learn about rights and freedoms, what it takes to draft and pass new laws, and how the law influences and is influenced by society and culture.
-
Leadership
What does it mean to be a leader? How does one learn to lead? In this option you will learn all about the importance of building relationships and directing people to work together to achieve common goals and objectives. With opportunities to learn from Trent University’s Jarislowsky Chair in Trust and Political Leadership, and take courses from across disciplines, you will develop comprehensive perspectives on leadership and earn a formal designation that signals your leadership capacity to future employers.
-
Applied Ethics
With courses grounded in critical thinking, ethical theory, and applied ethics, this option is ideal if you are interested in everything from advocacy and public policy issues to working in the fields of medicine, law, environmental resource management, business, and computing.
