If you're a high achiever in your third year, Trent also offers four Accelerated Master’s Programs, which allow Trent undergrads in select programs to work towards advanced standing in their Master’s degree programs with the potential to complete in 12 - 20 months. Please consult individual programs for specific information. 

Your first step is identifying a research focus and building connections with potential supervisors. Once you’ve determined what direction you want to head in, you can ask for more information on how to apply for an Accelerated Master’s program in the third year of your undergraduate honours degree.

Accelerated Masters Programs

Cultural Studies M.A.

Explore the very foundations of the systems of belief that will determine our future. This program offers an environment that encourages the kind of creative and critical thought that will prepare you for the challenges of the workplace, and for the opportunities of a rewarding life of cultural and political inquiry. Thesis and course-based program options available.

English (Public Texts) M.A.

Have the freedom to choose your area of focus and the stream that suits your goals. In as little as one year, earn a Master’s degree in English (Public Texts) while exploring a variety of career tracks in communications, digital or print editing, information science, publishing, teaching, or scholarship.

Environmental & Life Sciences M.Sc.

Let your scientific interests lead, as you investigate environmental issues of significance to society – and the world. Complete your thesis-based as part of Trent’s prestigious M.Sc. program, generate knowledge and contribute to the future.

History M.A.

The Trent Master of Arts in History M.A. is as unique as the students and professors that give it life. Delve deep into one of more than 30 areas of study – many of which are one-of-a-kind in Canada. Work with world-class scholars who are as interested in your research as they are in their own. Options include a thesis or course-based masters.

Admission Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Requirements:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • A minimum of six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses, including program specific prerequisites

Program Requirements:

  • A minimum 70% overall final average
  • ENG 4U with a minimum of 60%
