Giving Tuesday - Supporting Trent's Caring Communities

International day of philanthropy sees Trent University looking to their College and campus systems

During the past week, people across North America celebrated Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Today, we’re celebrating Giving Tuesday. The “opening day of the giving season,” it is a time where charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes.

This Giving Tuesday, Trent University hopes you will consider the several tight knit communities that make up our college and campus systems.

Each Trent college offers unique learning opportunities outside of the classroom. They enhance the diversity of our campus community, help students form life-long friendships, and shape a huge part of the Trent experience. Within Trent’s five colleges students find meaningful connections with faculty and peers, create a “home away from home,” and engage in learning and social opportunities crucial to student growth.

As a Giving Tuesday donor, you can designate a gift directly to the colleges, ensuring that students will continue to have the experiences that have made Trent Ontario’s top ranked undergraduate university.

Similarly, you can earmark funds towards the exciting new changes happening at the Trent Durham GTA campus.

To allow more students the opportunity to join the Trent community, we are planning a new six-storey multi-use space that will be a welcoming new gateway to the Durham campus. Integrating a 200-bed residence, a 100-seat tiered lecture hall, two 64-seat classrooms, research space, student common spaces, and faculty offices, this building will be a vibrant living/learning community built on the “college system” for which Trent is known. It will provide safe, supportive, and affordable housing for students across the Region of Durham and enable the campus to pursue its goal of increased international enrolment to bring a global perspective to the classroom. Additionally, it will provide much-needed prominence for the campus along Thornton Road.

“Trent has a tradition of loyal, caring individuals showing their concern for the student experience,” says Sherry Booth, director of philanthropy for Trent University. “For some, it’s about paying it back. For others, it’s paying it forward. Whatever the motivation, Giving Tuesday is a great way to show your support for the students of today.”

Last year, on Giving Tuesday, over 6 million people gave to over 6,500 charities around the world. This year we hope that you decide to give too.

Please consider a gift that will help continue to make Trent's colleges and campuses sources of inspiration, academic excellence, and life-long bonds for students.
