Giving Tuesday College Challenge accepted by alumni, students, staff and faculty, raising over $80,000 and exceeding goal

giving tuesday

When the University issued a challenge in celebration of Giving Tuesday – to raise $75,000 in 25 hours in support Trent’s college system – Trent alumni, students, staff, faculty, and retirees came together to not only meet the ambitious goal, but exceed it, raising $80,912 for colleges at Trent, in addition to another $71,920 donations to support other major initiatives at Trent, bringing Trent’s Giving Tuesday fundraising total to an impressive $152,832.

“This overwhelming support is a testament to the transformative experience at Trent. Colleges are an integral part of student life and at the epicentre of many traditions and fond memories,” said Julie Davis, vice-president of External Relations and Advancement. “Funds raised from the campaign will provide a sustainable, perpetual, and dependable source of funds to support programming and college enhancements.”

Joining the Giving Tuesday campaign, the President’s Office challenge unleashed an additional $5,000 to Traill College for the highest per capita participation, and $5,000 to Champlain College for being the first college to reach their $15,000 goal. Funds were also raised to strengthen support for Trent in Durham GTA, as well as to honour the former Peter Robinson College and Julian Blackburn College through a student prize.

The #CrushtheCollegeChallenge Giving Tuesday campaign, part of Trent’s Unleash the Potential: $50 Million Campaign, was supported through social media on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as through e-mail and telefundraising.
