This fund was established in 2019 in honor of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary May Simon, Canada’s first Indigenous governor general, and will support the following activites:
- bring an Arctic Indigenous leader to visit the School and to meet with undergraduate students. (To include travel, meals and small honorarium)
- bring in a speaker to further the understanding of diplomacy in the North. (To include travel, meals and small honorarium.)
- support student projects, travel or conference attendance to further their learning on Arctic and Indigenous matters
- award a prize ($500 minimum) to a student for their commitment to or success in the study of the Arctic.
