"During my time in the AMOD program, I completed courses on advanced data analytic techniques, an MSc thesis project, and several other research projects. These opportunities have allowed me to develop strong technical skills in data analysis, management, and visualization, as well as soft skills in project management, teamwork and collaboration, and writing and communication that have allowed me to excel in my PhD (and in projects with industry partners)."
Aayush Gautam - Big Data Analytics MSc '23
Data Scientist II, TD Bank (North American Customer Operations - Data Strategy & Delivery / Artificial Intelligence and Analytics Insights)
Aayush co-authored the AMOD capstone project, "Optimizing Uber Operations: Leveraging Data Engineering for Insights and Growth". He engineered an end-to-end pipeline on Google Cloud Platform with Mage for orchestration and BigQuery for warehousing, then compared MLR, Ridge, Lasso, Elastic-Net, and Polynomial regressors for fare prediction. The project also produced operational insights (e.g. peak demand by hour; revenue by rate code) and dimensional model (fact + conformed dimensions) suitable for BI.
"In short, AMOD didn't just teach cloud-based analytics tools; it built a systems mindset-from data modelling and cloud pipelines to statistical defensibility and storytelling. That combination is why I could step into TD and deliver value quickly."
