ABOUT 

Swinburne University of Technology is a public research university based in Melbourne, Australia. Its main campus is in Hawthorn, a suburb of Melbourne, 7.5 km from the Melbourne central business district.

Who can apply? 

  • Undergraduate (mainly) and graduate students enrolled in programs lending to the faculty above. 

  • Students must have a minimum cumulative average of 70% to apply. 

  • Please note that subject areas at partner universities may change. 

Academic Information

At Swinburne, one course is typically worth 12.5 credit points (CP) and a full-time load for one semester is either three units (37.5 CP) or 4 units (50 CP). 

  • Course load for one semester is 37.5 CP = 2.0 credits or 50.0 CP= 2.5 credits 

  • Course load for full year is 70 CP = 4.0 credits or 100.0 CP = 5.0 credits

Tuition/Program Fees 

  • Trent students are responsible to pay their normal Trent tuition fees as a full-time student plus Trent full ancillary fee package (no opt out options while abroad), tuition fees are waived at the host university.

Additional Fees

Financial Support 

  • Each year BUTEX awards a number of scholarships to students studying abroad for either a semester or for a whole academic year.  

  • OSAP: Check with our Financial Aid Department regarding OSAP eligibility 

  • Trent Academic Scholarship: If you are paying your tuition fees you maybe still eligible for Trent Academic Scholarship during your exchange – Check with our Financial Aid Department for scholarship eligibility 

  • Trent Study Abroad Bursaries: Our Study Abroad Bursary Program will open in April for applications; up to $3000.
