ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF GRAZ

The University of Graz, located in Graz, Austria, is the largest and oldest university in Styria, as well as the second largest and second-oldest university in Austria. The university is divided into six faculties, the two largest are the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The other faculties are the Faculty of Law; the Faculty of Business, Economic and Social sciences the Faculty of Environmental, Regional and Educational Sciences; and the Faculty of Catholic Theology.

Who can apply? 

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in programs lending to the faculty above. 

  • Students must have a minimum cumulative average of 70% to apply. 

  • Please note that subject areas at partner universities may change. 

Academic Information 

How many credits equal a full course-load at Trent? 

  • A standard full-time study load normally consists of 60 ECTS in one academic year (there are two standard semesters in each academic year). 

  • Course load for one semester is 30 ECTS= 2.5 credits 

  • Course load for full year is 60 ECTS = 5 credits

Tuition/Program Fees 

  • Trent students are responsible to pay their normal Trent tuition fees as a full-time student plus Trent full ancillary fee package (no opt out options while abroad), tuition fees are waived at the host university. 

Housing 

  • There is no on-campus housing, but numerous student dorms are located very close to the university's main campus. There are also a great number of private offers available, from shared or single apartments to family-sized homes. Useful links are also provided on the website to help aid your search.

Note that dorms are not centrally organized by one office, you have to contact each dorm you're interested in individually. 

  • Registration deadlines for student dorms are published on the relevant website for each one. Please note that all student residences in Graz accommodate both male and female students.

Additional Fees 

  • Immigration applications, accommodations, meals, flights, travel and health insurance, spending money, etc. 

Financial Support 

  • Each year BUTEX awards a number of scholarships to students studying abroad for either a semester or for a whole academic year.  

  • OSAP: Check with our Financial Aid Department regarding OSAP eligibility

  • Trent Academic Scholarship: If you are paying your tuition fees you maybe still eligible for Trent Academic Scholarship during your exchange – Check with our Financial Aid Department for scholarship eligibility 

  • Trent Study Abroad Bursaries: Application Deadline - prior to your departure: For September departure - August 1st: For January Departure - December 1st; up to $3000.
