ABOUT

Lancaster University (officially The University of Lancaster) is a public research university in Lancaster, Lancashire, England. The university was established in 1964 by royal charter, as one of several new universities created in the 1960s. Lancaster is a residential collegiate university; the colleges are weakly autonomous. The eight undergraduate colleges are named after places in the historic county of Lancashire, and each has its own campus residence blocks, common rooms, administrative staff and bars.

Who can apply? 

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in programs lending to the faculty's above. 

  • Students must have a minimum cumulative average of 70% to apply. 

  • Please note that subject areas at partner universities may change. 

Academic Information 

How many credits equal a full course-load at Trent? 

  • Course load for one semester is 22.5 ECT credits = 2.5 credits 

  • Course load for full year is 60 ECT credits = 5 credits

Term Dates 

  • Semester One: October 6th - December 13th, 2024 

  • Semester Two: January 10th – March 21st, 2025 

Application deadline is May 31, 2024 for full year/first semester exchange and October 31st, 2024 for second semester students.

Tuition/Program Fees 

  • Trent students are responsible to pay their normal Trent tuition fees as a full-time student plus Trent full ancillary fee package (no opt out options while abroad), tuition fees are waived at the host university. 

Housing 

  • Undergraduate Exchange and Study Abroad students are guaranteed a room on campus provided they apply by the deadline. 
  • Accommodation applications are made online from June (for October starters) and late November (for January starters).  Emails are sent to students at the start of application period with further information about how to apply.

  • Immigration applications, accommodations, meals, flights, travel and health insurance, spending money, etc. 

Financial Support 

  • Each year BUTEX awards a number of scholarships to students studying abroad for either a semester or for a whole academic year.

  • Trent Academic Scholarship: If you are paying your tuition fees you maybe still eligible for Trent Academic Scholarship during your exchange – Check with our Financial Aid Department for scholarship eligibility 

  • Trent Study Abroad Bursaries: Application Deadline - prior to your departure - For September departure - August 1st: For January Departure - December 1st; up to $3000.
