Behavioural & Cognitive Neuroscience

This specialization will give you a strong foundation in the concepts and methodology needed to comprehend the structural and functional aspects of the brain and brain dysfunction. Build a deeper understanding of the biological underpinnings of the human brain, studying the ways in which stress, drugs, our environment, and other factors impact behaviour.

Courses 

Students who have fulfilled the requirements for an Honours degree in Psychology may graduate with a Specialization in Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience if they have successfully completed the following 4.0 credits:

  • 1.5 PSYC credits consisting of:
    • PSYC 2200H: Brain and Behaviour
    • PSYC 2400H: Introduction to Cognitive Psychology
    • PSYC-BIOL 3220H: Neuropsychology
  • 2.0 PSYC credits from:
    • PSYC-KINE 2210H: Brain and Body in Action
    • PSYC 2600H: Introduction to Learning
    • PSYC-BIOL 3210H: Principles of the Nervous System
    • PSYC 3230H: Sleep and Arousal
    • PSYC 3240H: Drugs and Behaviour
    • PSYC 3430H: Memory
    • PSYC 3451H: Psychology of Language
    • PSYC 3460H: Sensation and Perception
    • Or a practicum course (PSYC 3801H or 3802H) that focuses on cognitive or behavioural neuroscience
  • 0.5 PSYC credit from:
    • PSYC 4225H: Advanced Cognitive Neuroscience
    • PSYC 4625H: Neurobiology of Learning and Memory
    • PSYC-BIOL 4840H: Neuroendocrinology
    • Or a practicum course (PSYC 4801H or 4802H) that focuses on cognitive or behavioural neuroscience
