Pursue a career helping others with their mental and physical well-being. This specialization gives you the tools needed to understand the motivational, emotional, cognitive, and behavioural foundations of health and well-being, priming you for work in healthcare, rehabilitation, psychotherapy, behavioural medicine, and clinical psychology.

Courses:

Students who have fulfilled the requirements for an Honours degree in Psychology may graduate with a Specialization in Health & Well-being if they have successfully completed 4.5 credits in the specialization category. The same course may not simultaneously count towards two or more specializations.

  • 3.0 PSYC credits consisting of:
    • PSYC 2300H: Introductory Abnormal Psychology (Sc)
    • PSYC 2400H: Introduction to Cognitive Psychology (Sc)
    • PSYC 2600H: Introduction to Learning (Sc)
    • PSYC 3420H: Motivation and Emotion (Sc)
    • PSYC 3610H: Behaviour Modification (Sc)
    • PSYC 3750H: Health Psychology (Sc)
  • 0.5 PSYC credit from:
    • PSYC 2200H: Brain and Behaviour (Sc)
    • PSYC 2700H: Introduction to Social Psychology (Sc)
  • 1.0 credit from:
    • PSYC-BIOL 3220H: Neuropsychology (Sc)
    • PSYC 3300H: Advanced Abnormal Psychology (Sc)
    • PSYC 3760H: Human Sexuality (Sc)
    • PSYC 3770H: Environmental Psychology (Sc)
    • PSYC 3780H: Dreams and Dreaming (Sc)
    • PSYC 4310H: Psychopathology (Sc)
    • PSYC 4560H: Relationships and Health (Sc)
    • PSYC 4740H: Models of Self Control (Sc)
    • Or reading courses* (PSYC 3900Y*, 3901H*, 3902H*, 4900Y*, 4901H*, 4902H*), or practicum courses* (PSYC 3801H*, 3802H*, 4801H*, 4802H*) primarily focused on health and well-being
