Journalism & Creative Writing
The Journalism and Creative Writing program at Trent University Durham GTA develops career-ready skills in journalism, social media, storytelling and content creation, while strengthening students’ critical thinking, writing and media production abilities.
Students gain hands-on experience in narrative techniques, multimodal content creation, literary journalism and traditional journalistic reporting. Through practical coursework and guidance from experienced creative writers and journalists, students can develop their own distinctive voice and build a strong portfolio of work.
With immersive courses and hands-on field placement opportunities, students develop the techniques and strategies needed to create engaging content, strengthen their writing abilities, and build skills in leadership, project planning and collaboration.

Requirements
If you are coming straight from high school in Ontario or are a recent grad, the general admission requirements are:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- A minimum of six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses, including program specific prerequisites
- A minimum 70% overall final average
- ENG 4U with a minimum of 60%
