The Master of Arts Management is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in arts management and administration, or for professionals in the practice who wish to advance their skills and enhance their knowledge of the field. Students will develop their scholarly knowledge, applied skills, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities to establish a strong foundation for professionals working across a variety of fields.
The program will draw upon curriculum in various areas such as:
- Arts Management
- Policy
- Culture and the Arts
- Budgeting
- Marketing and Leadership
These objectives are achieved through a combination of course work and in the culminating co-op placement undertaken in conjunction with an arts organization, government department, public agency or cultural enterprise, with a required experiential learning report. The program will deepen your understanding of arts policy and practice, impart key administrative skills and core management thought, and through practical engagement in a co-op placement, develop hands-on experience and problem-solving skills. Graduates will obtain a unique understanding of Canadian and international policy and management practices concerning the arts, issues and trends in cultural creation, production and distribution, and be able to analyze methodologies of administrative practice.
