How to book an advising appointment online
Academic Advising Appointments are available to book online through the Student Experience Portal.
- Sign into the Student Experience Portal with your Trent username and password.
- Click on “Book Appointments” in the left menu to get started.
- Select 'view calendar' to see the next available appointment or select 'book by provider' to search for available appointments by Academic Advisor.
- Select time slot and complete the form.
- A confirmation email with the appointment details will be sent to you along with a reminder email. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so by following the links provided in the emails.
- If you have difficulty using the online booking system you can call the academic advising phone line at (answered by trained, upper-year student staff) 705-748-1011 ext. 7333 for assistance.
You will be able to see appointments up to two weeks away on the Student Experience Portal. Appointments often book up once they become available, so if you do not see anything available (e.g., the calendar is blank) or the availability does not work with your schedule, you can check back the following day after 9:00am EST. Sometimes cancelations do occur, which also means that sometimes appointments that are available sooner might also appear in the portal.
Frequently Asked Questions
I am having difficulty booking an appointment, what else can I do?
There are a couple of ways to book an appointment with an Academic Advisor, and the important thing to remember is that you should be connecting with us early in the morning each day.
Our online booking system is available through the Student Experience Portal. New appointments are opened each morning by 9:00am EST, with a limited number of appointments opened for that same day, and up to 10 business days away.
Staff in the College Offices are available Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm EST to provide assistance with booking the next available appointment.
Academic Advising is also available at the Trent Durham-GTA campus in Oshawa, and through the Trent International office.

How many appointments can I have in one week?
Students may book a maximum of one appointment per week. Exceptions may be made based on the Academic Advisor’s discretion and appointment availability.
How do I cancel an appointment?
If a student cannot make an appointment, it is important to cancel it in order to free that time for someone else. Students should use the online booking system (Student Experience Portal) to cancel an appointment at least 2 hours before it is scheduled to begin, email academicadvising@trentu.ca, or call 705-748-1011 ext. 7333 during office hours.
No Show Policy
We understand that things come up and might get in the way of attending a previously booked appointment with an Academic Advisor. If you do not show up for two appointments with Academic Advising, you will no longer be permitted to book your own appointment on the online booking system. If you have reached this booking limit, please call the advising phone line 705-748-1011 ext. 7333 for assistance with booking.
We ask that you take the time to contact us to let us know if you can no longer attend, so that the Academic Advisor can offer the opportunity to another student in need of an appointment.
Are you a graduate student looking for advising support?
