Updated Group Fitness Schedule

The group fitness schedule has been updated and is now available online. Hard copies will be available at the front desk soon. The new schedule runs until June 30, 2013.

Please visit the Fitness page for more details on changes to the group fitness schedule and upcoming dates when classes will not be offered. 

Pool Schedule Changes

Please note the following schedule changes for Friday, May 24.

Lane Swim 9 AM to 10 AM, Public Swim 10 AM to 11:30, and Lane Swim 11:30 to 2:30 will be cancelled due to maintence. The regular schedule will resume at 3:00pm.

Summer Memberships - Available May 1

Limited term summer memberships are back for 2013!

All memberships are for sale starting May 1 and expire August 31, 2013. Parking is included.* Rates for the full four-month term as follows and

will be prorated as the summer goes on:

Adult               $160

Senior             $140

Family             $260

Sr. Family        $200

Student 18+     $80

Youth                $60

* Parking pass is not included for any Trent staff who purchase a summer membership.

Trent students who are not enrolled in summer courses need to purchase a membership to access the Athletics Centre as of May 1.  Membership options are available to students who are enrolled in courses for a portion of the summer. Visit the Member Services Desk for more details.

 

Athletics Review 2013

A review of the Department of Athletics and Recreation took place in January 2013. Conducted by experts from Wilfrid Laurier University and Brock University, the review looked at all aspects of the department's operations since the implementation of a 2009 Business Plan to support the expansion and renovation of the Athletics Centre. The goal was to identify cost-saving opportunities and improved efficiencies to make the operation more financially viable.

The review acknowledged that, as an Ancillary operation, Trent Athletics is required to cover all operating costs, including: staffing, building operation and maintenance utilities, overheads, annual principal & interest payments. This model differs from many other Canadian and Ontario universities which provide funding to their athletics operations.

As the only fitness and recreation facility in the growing north end of the City of Peterborough, the new Athletics Centre at the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre (TCSRC) is a modern, multi-sport centre of excellence, designed to serve the wellness needs of students and all residents of the Peterborough Region.

Offering a full-spectrum indoor and outdoor fitness and recreation experience unparalleled anywhere in the region, the Athletics Centre provides vital wellness services to all members, including seniors and older adults, students, children, youth, persons with disabilities, and the llocal workforce.

About the Centre:

  • 76,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art home for sports, fitness and recreation located at Trent University
  • New state-of-the-art 22,000 sq. ft. addition, increasing overall space by 50%
  • Renewal of existing 54,000 sq. ft. PSB Wilson Athletics Complex
  • $16 million total investment for new construction and refurbishment, supported through student levies and the Sport, Recreation & Wellness for All Campaign
  • Supported by the City of Peterborough’s Vision 2010: A Strategic Plan for Recreation, Parks and Culture, which calls for the creation of at least three multipurpose recreation centres in the Peterborough region.
