Where these guidelines apply
These guidelines apply to postering, notices, promotional materials, and solicitation in all Trent University Library & Archives spaces, including Bata Library, Trent University Archives, and the Durham Campus Library & Learning Centre.
Guiding principle
Library spaces are provided for study, research, learning, teaching, and access to library services. Postering and solicitation are limited to help maintain quiet, accessible, uncluttered, and welcoming spaces for all users.
Postering in library spaces
Posters, flyers, and notices related to University events, activities, departments, offices, or recognized student organizations may be placed on the bulletin board near the bus-loading area.
Areas where postering is not permitted
Postering is not permitted in library public areas other than designated bulletin boards. This includes:
- atriums, entrances, hallways, stairwells, elevators, doors, windows, restrooms, book stacks, study tables, study carrels, group study rooms, classrooms, and other library spaces not identified as designated bulletin board areas.
Outdated, duplicate, or improperly posted notices may be removed.
Solicitation
Solicitation is not permitted in Trent University Library & Archives spaces unless specifically authorized by the Library & Archives.. This includes distributing promotional materials, selling goods or services, direct person-to-person solicitation, conducting surveys, and asking for donations or contributions.
