ACE Portal
The Accessible Content E-Portal (ACE) is a service that provides library materials in accessible formats to readers with perceptual disabilities who attend a participating Ontario university.
ACE provides the following alternate formats:
- Colour PDF
- Black & white PDF
- DAISY
- ePub
- Plain text
Accessing ACE
Library users with perceptual disabilities may register for access to the ACE Portal using an individual token.
Students must be registered with Student Accessibility Services in order to obtain an ACE token.

What is a Perceptual Disability?
According to Canadian Copyright law, a perceptual disability is defined as a “disability that prevents or inhibits a person from reading or hearing a work in its original format, and includes such a disability resulting from:
- Severe or total impairment of sight or hearing or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes;
- The inability to hold or manipulate a book;
- Or an impairment relating to comprehension”

Captioned Video
